Lovely List for Mama's Day

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I thought I'd put together a little list of gift ideas for honoring those special mamas in our lives...

A framed copy of this print from The Paris Print Shop would be just perfect.

A gift package with your mom's favorite tea would make a delightful treat.

A twist on the traditional gift of flowers: how about giving her this vertical garland of vases with fresh flowers from your garden?

And who doesn't love receiving a new pair of earrings?

Or what about a personalized stamp with your mom's initial for making her own stationery?

Pair together a summery shade of nail polish or two along with a glass jar of homemade peppermint foot scrub using this recipe for a mini spa treatment.

For those Downton Abbey aficionados, the original, unedited UK DVD of Downton Abbey Season 2 would be fun.

White-on-White Mosaic Flower Ring

I just popped this sweet little summery ring into my Shop. It's a brighter white than the winter white I've used in the past. This ring is also Sterling Silver so great with those with metal sensitivities. I hope you enjoy it!

Crikey! It's Cracked! The Sequel

When I posted this, my artwork was cracked and I was thinking about how life can also be imperfect, disappointing and broken, but that there's comfort in God. Today, I'm reminded that that which is broken can be redeemed and made new. Although I could have tried to patch up the crack, I decided against trying to fix my Succulent Blossom and just made an entirely new one. A patch job just didn't sit well with me. I wanted the same design but done right.

Likewise, but in a much more profound way, Jesus redeems that which is broken, namely our very lives. We don't have to clean up our acts to come to Him either. He takes us as we are and makes us into who we were created to be. The Bible says that "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinithians 5:17 Jesus took our brokenness (what we call sin) onto Himself in dying on the cross so that we might have life in Him. He redeems us from sin so that we can live in His righteousness to the glory of God. We are made new. It's a reality that is exquisitely beautiful and of which this necklace now serves as a reminder.

Pretty Pairing

Amidst these busy days, I've been savoring moments with my loved ones...taking time to snuggle on the couch with my two younger C's; taking my middle C to the store and joking around the whole trip; and taking extra time to sit and read aloud to all 3Cs. Precious time with my little ones who will not remain little for much longer. And then my mom and I stole away for the rare treat of a girls' night out. My mom took me shopping for my birthday and we had a great time talking and laughing and trying on clothes. We both got a flowing top or two and I nearly got an asymmetrical skirt (I like the one from Toast down below!) but opted for a little black summer dress instead. I almost never find dresses that fit right (I'm more of a skirt girl), so it was a nice surprise to find a dress that I like and I had to take advantage. But I'm mostly drawn to two piece outfits and I love the combination below. I would like to pair my Heart of Gold Ring with this outfit throughout spring and summer.

Or for an entirely different look, I'd like to pair little pops of color, like these, with this summery outfit.

Going Global

I'm feeling inspired by these beautiful vintage globes that have been given new life by Wendy Gold at ImagineNations. And while I wouldn't dare mess with my vintage globe that was passed down to me from my grandpa, I am a fan of these fanciful creations. I think the family tree globe is my favorite. How about you?

Shades of Gray & Blue

Hello! I hope you're having a great weekend! We've been indoors more than we like because of windy, colder weather plus allergies but quiet weekends are sometimes the best. And being indoors afforded me the opportunity to work on some new little treasures that I've now added to my Shop. There's a definite color scheme I was loving and I hope you love it too.

Here are some new pieces...

Ice Blue & Slate Heart Hair Pins

Lil' Heart Earrings in Turquoise

Delicate Flower Earrings in Slate

And here are some favorites that are updated and back in the Shop...

Turquoise & Graphite Heart Hair Pins

Little Bloom Earrings in Turquoise

I have a few more items that I'm finishing up and will hopefully add soon. Have a great week!

love mae

Spring is here and with it comes spring cleaning. We began (I say "we" but really my husband was the hero in this story as I was out getting my hair cut) a thorough, pull-everything-out-of-the-room cleaning in our 3Cs' bedroom. It's so nice to walk in there now and not step on Lego pieces or wonder if the pile of clothes on the floor is clean, dirty or somewhere in between. I don't know about your home, but I've gone to put a load of clothes in the washing machine and have discovered clean clothes that are still folded but tossed into the hamper because that's easier than opening a drawer and putting said item away. But I digress. The orderliness in there has me thinking of beautiful spaces for children...spaces that are full of imagination but also restful. And the charming offerings from love mae would create just such a place.

My 3Cs would love the above fabric wall decals, bedding and mini fabric stickers. And if we had a wee little girl, I would love these Melamine dishes...

and these adorable wall decals...

Goodness Gracious Me!

The Danish company Oi Soi Oi offers beautiful items that are made by hand in Vietnam. Oi Soi Oi means "goodness gracious me!" in Vietnamese. Isn't that fun? Take a peek at their Spring/Summer 2012 catalog...

Gorgeous, no? Loving the colors, textures and patinas.

It's a Beautiful Morning

Hello Friends! I didn't get to stop in much last week between spring break and Easter but it's good to be here now. So let me wish you a belated Happy Easter! Although we celebrate the reality of a risen Savior everyday, it is an especially sweet time at Easter to reflect on the Savior's love that sent him to the cross to take upon Himself our sin that we might become spiritually alive in Christ. If you're interested in knowing more about what all this means, I'd love to talk further with you. Just shoot me an email.

Well, when I was here last, my nieces were coming into town and we were preparing for a Resurrection Picnic with our homeschool co-op. My 3Cs had an amazing time last week playing with their cousins and with friends. I was invited to do the devotional for the kids at the picnic, which I really enjoyed because it was a good exercise for me to think about how to communicate Jesus' love and journey to the cross to kids of all ages. Somewhere in the mix, we celebrated my birthday and my husband and I got in a date night. We tried out the new Chipotle's in town (quality, tasty ingredients and easy to make gluten free) and then went shopping and got coffee (thanks M!!!!). In the coming days, I'm looking forward to reading this book and this book that I got for my birthday. And in between reading, I'm hoping to have some time to get busy with some new pieces for my Shop. But before I can get to all of that, let me wish you a beautiful morning. I'm off to wrangle some boys and teach some school. I'll be back soon!

Happy Monday!

Hello Friends! Did you have a fun weekend? We tried to rest and relax as much as possible this weekend. My husband worked 12 days straight (!) and I've been up just about every night with one or more of our boys having sore legs, allergies, bad dreams, etc.  So, we were blessed to have some down time and enjoyed breakfast at a local breakfast/lunch place (I don't remember the last time we went out to breakfast on a Saturday morning but we enjoyed this treat so much!), date night while our 3Cs played with good friends, church, and a nap here and there. And now this morning, the 3Cs and I are enjoying our spring break and are looking forward to a fun and meaningful week of celebrating the Good News that Jesus is alive. What are your plans for the week?
