Rest and a Poinsettia Set
Hello! Did you have a wonderful Christmas? I hope so! We certainly did. We were blessed with awesome times of worship at church on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. We enjoyed a very fun and chaotic time with our 3Cs (our house is now an utter mess of new toys, books, clothes, etc.) and we spent lovely time with our families. Today's agenda: rest. So here's just a quick post to say hello and send you wishes for a restful holiday week.
p.s. My Pop commissioned me to make something for him to give my Mom for Christmas. Wasn't that sweet of him? So since he traditionally gives my Mom poinsettias every year, including this one, I decided to make the above poinsettia necklace and earrings for her. I think they were both pleased.

Merry Christmas!
From our home to yours, Merry Christmas! |
Can you believe we're only two days away from Christmas? This week has flown right on by. We had our community group from church over for a Christmas party and White Elephant exchange on Wednesday. What prize did we come away with? A big ole pink Snuggie. Yup. I haven't used it yet but once I wash it, I can see the usefulness of draping myself in that bubble gum pink blanket with arms. It won't be a pretty sight but I'll be warm. Which is really important now that we have another winter wonderland outside. But I'm not complaining. I love it. I was out on a date with my husband last night (yay for date nights!) and the softly falling snow was gorgeous. And now I have an added incentive to use my Snuggie. Am I ready for Christmas you ask? Nope. Not even close. I have nothing wrapped. Truly nothing. I'm pretty sure I haven't finished shopping completely. And I'm working on some top secret jewelry as gifts. And as far as making goodies goes, well, I don't even know what to say about that. But really, it's not all about that stuff anyway. Simply put, it's about Jesus. So as I rush to finish all these details, I want to give Him the glory and thanks for giving me loved ones to give gifts to and granting me beautiful, snowy days to enjoy and surrounding me with all the loveliness of this season. And mostly, I thank Him for giving Himself. May you have a blessed Christmas, celebrating and creating new memories, enjoying good company and delicious food, and meditating on the wonder of new born King.

A Lot of Luxe Plus a Moose
Admittedly, I have not made much progress in decorating our house for Christmas. I've been too busy being a mommy, being a bit under the weather, and being a busy bee in order to get ready for the Craft Show, but I'm hoping to get to it soon. In the meantime, here is some inspiration from The White Company...
Hope you find something that inspires you.
Thank you Casa Tres Chic for introducing me to The White Company.

And a bit of whimsy because I love moose!

I've been busily working on getting ready for a craft fair this coming Saturday, December 10th. The Homemade Holiday Craft Sale at Crosspointe Christian Church is being held from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Come on out and do some holiday shopping. I'd love to see you there!
You can find a map to the craft fair here.
I'll be back later with pics of what I've been working on.

Here are some Christmas wreaths that caught my eye...

Have you started your Christmas decorating yet? We've been sick this week but I'm hoping to get some decorations up soon. If you click on the Bloesem Kids link above, you'll find instructions for making this wreath with your kiddos, which would be a fun little project for the weekend. We're expecting a winter storm this weekend so we'll be mostly staying in. I hope to tackle a few projects...but maybe we'll settle for snuggling on the couch with cups of cocoa and tea and watching some movies. Whatever your weekend brings, I hope it is delightful.

Ooh La La

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to go on an amazing home tour. It was the Ooh La La Christmas Home Tour, which is a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. It's a fantastic cause (so grateful for our soldiers who sacrifice so much to keep us safe!) and the home tour was just unbelievable. There were eight homes on the tour, all custom but of varying styles and sizes, and each one was decorated for Christmas. It was so much fun to see different decorating ideas as well as step into gorgeous homes.
One of the decorating ideas that I hope to incorporate in my home is hanging a large branch from the ceiling with ornaments hung from it (similar to the photo above.) We saw that in a home that has an Asian theme and it was really simple but striking. Another unique idea in that same home was several groupings of red and white and flowered paper lanterns hung from the ceiling by wires. It was festive and fit the overall look of the home.
I also took away an appreciation for how the decorators used the existing color scheme in each house as a base for their seasonal decorating. One home had orange and gold running through it, which was reflected in the Christmas decorating with a sprig of greenery, an orange glass ornament and a gold butterfly grouped together and hung throughout the home. Who would have thought of using orange and gold for Christmas? And yet, it was very elegant and suited the home perfectly.
So while Christmas isn't next week, I'm inspired to begin thinking about how to add some holiday charm to our home. What's inspiring you for holiday decorating?
