Brick Floors

The details in this gorgeous German home have my heart all aflutter...

In addition to loving the soothing white interior, the brick floors reminded me of my hometown village of Corrales. Many of the adobe homes have red brick floors as does the library. The bricks give such a timeless feel to a space. Love it! And who isn't tempted to play with that gigantic chess set? Weapons in the hands of my 3Cs, no doubt, but tempting nonetheless.

Sea and Sun

When I saw this summer house in Sicily, I just had to take a moment to soak it in. 

Ahh...that's better. My mind needed a little trip to this place of cerulean waters and white washed walls.  I love the cheerful pops of blue and yellow, the gorgeous tile everywhere, the furniture that looks like it's been beautifully soaked in history, and that dreamy bedroom. I can almost feel the warmth of the sun and a gentle sea breeze. Soothing to my soul. More loveliness here.

Love this 4 poster bed! And the chandelier. And the colors. And the basket beneath the bed.

Spring is here and with it comes spring cleaning. We began (I say "we" but really my husband was the hero in this story as I was out getting my hair cut) a thorough, pull-everything-out-of-the-room cleaning in our 3Cs' bedroom. It's so nice to walk in there now and not step on Lego pieces or wonder if the pile of clothes on the floor is clean, dirty or somewhere in between. I don't know about your home, but I've gone to put a load of clothes in the washing machine and have discovered clean clothes that are still folded but tossed into the hamper because that's easier than opening a drawer and putting said item away. But I digress. The orderliness in there has me thinking of beautiful spaces for children...spaces that are full of imagination but also restful. And the charming offerings from love mae would create just such a place.

My 3Cs would love the above fabric wall decals, bedding and mini fabric stickers. And if we had a wee little girl, I would love these Melamine dishes...

Goodness Gracious Me!

The Danish company Oi Soi Oi offers beautiful items that are made by hand in Vietnam. Oi Soi Oi means "goodness gracious me!" in Vietnamese. Isn't that fun? Take a peek at their Spring/Summer 2012 catalog...

Chez Hippo

I've been looking for a little inspiration for changing things up in our 3Cs' room. And then I came across this charming space from Bonnesoeurs...

A colorful banner, a couple of hungry hippos, and an oversized mushroom...what more could one ask for? I love the soothing neutrals with pops of color, the built-in shelf for books, and the lockers and woven baskets for storage. And I think that simple desk design would be perfect for our 3Cs and easy to replace in the case of a boys v. furniture battle taking a wrong turn. All in all, a bright, imaginative space for playing and dreaming.

White, Wood, & Sparkly Good

Isn't this light-filled Flatiron Apartment from Scout Designs NYC just beautiful...

The white, wood and touches of sparkle (love the side table and dresser!) along with splashes of unexpected red is just right. I want to soak in that bath and then curl up in a sunny patch to read...or snooze.
